Unfortunately we have often had to deal with IE6 just because corporate users of some applications are still using it.

Web browser compatibility/support is one of my top priorities when building/testing new web sites especially when interacting with the UI with JavaScript / JQuery / Ajax and CSS. UX(User Experience) should remain at most the same across browsers such as IE, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome. One of the key fundamentals in web design/development is to be consistent in representing your site and functionality. Any big changes may disorientate your users, even if it scales down to browser compatibility, I would recommend testing sites with major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome.
