Wow, this guy JUST called me. Was asking for info, but wouldn't tell me his name. Indian accent, and what sounded like many telemarketers working in the background. Asked for my fax # and I replied, "This is a suspicious phone call."

I was immediately hung up on. I Googled the phone number to find this has been going on for years??? Guess, I'm just late to the party as usual.

Hmmm - maybe this thing is heating up again.  I, too, rec'd a call from this infamous phone number, but unfortunately no one said a word when I answered the call. I didn't say anything, either, so here were two people, sitting on a phone, waiting the other one out.  He hung up, so I won, right?  :)

Perhaps all cell providers should distribute cell phones with this phone number pre-programmed into the Contacts, and identify it as "Scammer".  That would be helpful.

Jason - just a quick "what a small world" note: I noticed after posting my 1st note that you had NEPA in your title.  I'm born and reared in South Montrose (MAHS '81 - living in Upstate NY now), and my mom graduated from Elk Lake.

Well, this number was on my caller id and when I call it back...it just makes a clicking noise and that is it.

Domain Registry Services just called 3 times today, asking for information and our fax number.   I didn't fall to the scam.  I know that we don't deal with any company by that name and figured it was a cold sales call or scam.

After all the probing they did on the phone, I felt it was very fishy.  I Googled the number and found this site...and many others with complaints clear back before Nov 2005!  

I don't know for sure what they were up to, but it definately was not in my best interest!

i got this call too, i couldn't quite hear what the man was saying but i could tell he wanted my address.  i thought he was with my phone company so i gave it to him.  two seconds later he started asking me how old i was so i asked who he was working for.  i still was having trouble hearing but it sounded like he said dave something.  he asked for my fax and i told him i didn't have one which is true, then when he asked for my email i told him that i didn't have one because i did only recently get one, and i also didn't want him spamming me.  then he said, oh you don't have any email so you can talk to your boyfriend?  and that really suprised me so i told him i was going to hang up.  he didn't seem suprised at this.

i'm worried though, would this guy use my address to come and get me or something, because i really don't want a pedophile knocking on my door or coming in my window or something.

Just got a call from steve about my Web site http://www.theposterhouse.com  he wanted my fax number etc. I told him I do not have a fax mchine and he would not belive me.  I said you can e-mail me if you like.  then he hung up.  Now the strange thing is my web sight www.theposterhouse.com just poped into the top ten list in google for cheap posters about 3 days ago.

So why would he call me?  what kind of a scam is this?  Don't you love google. and thats how I found this site.

I keep searching for a company name or something from this 866-383-0986 number and everytime I search for it I come to MORE and MORE pages just like this one.

They are SO ANNOYING. I receieve at least TWO calls EACH DAY from some woman, or sometimes a man, each with such a THICK ACCENT I can't hardly make any sense of what they are saying! SPEAK ENGLISH PEOPLE PLEASE. Anyways, the only difference in my case seems to be they aren't claiming to be a domain registry or to ask for a fax number. They claim to be some sort of mortgage company and are inquiring about my mortgage at the last RENTAL TOWNHOME COMPLEX I lived in. LOL. I tell them each time to TAKE ME OFF THEIR CALL LIST and that I don't even have an F'ING mortgage and that the address they "have on file" is a F'ING RENTAL COMPLEX. They make up some numbers and say that they know the percentage I'm paying and the amount of my monthly payment. WHAT?!?!?!? It's like they are making it up as they go along. I SWEAR TO GOD IT'S GETTING ANNOYING and I WANT IT TO STOP BEFORE I GO INSANE.

I always know when they are calling because my phone will ring and then there is dead silence for awhile and then it says, "PLEASE HOLD THE LINE, YOU HAVE A CALL FOR THIS LINE" or something equally as ANNOYING.

I ALWAYS INSIST ON BEING TAKEN OFF THE CALL LIST. I mean really, how can this be legal???? What can we do about this????

Received a call today. When an automated voice told me they were trying to connect me, I hung up. Thank you for putting all this information on Google.

Getting the same type of phone calls but I found this site by doing a Yahoo search. Google is not the only search engine out there (or the best) but they have fooled everyone into thinking they are.

I just got this call.  I said, "If it is about domain registry, why didn't you just email?"  He said something I didn't understand. (Didn't he take the How to Talk Like an American classes?)  "I don't understand you," I said.  He laughed!  At least he's human.  Then he asked for my fax.  "I don't have a fax," I answered.  So, he hung up on me.

I just got this call today, I didn't answer it cause i was at work, but when i saw an 866 number i figured I would look it up on google. What a suprise when I saw it was a scam. I think i may try to file some kind of complain about a phone scam. Any ideas as to where I would go to file this?

i got a call from the total free number it show up on my caller id i cannot find out what company it is cause when i call back they do not answer how do i find out about a 866 number

My babysitter received a call from them on august 1st, when i was out of town. Fortunately she did not tell them anything other than i wasn't home, where the lady on the phone kept accusing her of being me, and started telling her i had enormous amounts of financial aid debt and she wanted payment on it. They have not called back, I could not reach them only clicking and fast busy signals when I call so I came here to find out what was going on, since I have no financial aid debt, and I was pretty pissed she was giving out info to others besides myself.I am glad it was not a real collection agency , i had a breach in my bank account a few weeks ago and was worried someone may have done something. Well it looks like even after all this time thew scam is still going. Can;t authorities track this phone number to an actual place?

I am trying to perfect service on Domain Support Group a/k/a Domain Registry Support. Apparently, the 511 Avenue of Americas address is not legitimate. My certified service was returned. Any one know of a United States entity to which this outfit is tied?

These guys called me today asking for "Do you have student loans" and just a week ago they asked "Do you own or rent a house?" "Do you have children"

Obviously there gonna keep calling till people say yeah I have that or this or those and then they will continue to scan information out of you unitll they get what they want.

SO I GOT 3 CALLS ON MY CELL PHONE IN ONE DAY.  CALLED BACK FROM THE CELL AND FROM LAND LINE...PHONE CLICKED AND DICONNECTED ITSELF.

Interesting. I also just received a call from this number the other day. Showed up on my caller ID. A man with an accent on the other end. He began asking my questions about my student loans. If I had a loan out for more than 10 thousand dollars? When I graduated? If I've consolodated. When I asked him what all of the questions were regarding, he hung up on me. Tried to call the number back and nothing but open air and clicking sounds on the other end. What is this all about??????

I got a call from this number and it was not from a guy named steve.  Not sure what the person wanted.  but just hung up on them at that point.
