Matrix Revolutions: A Critic weighs in

Work took us to see the new matrix flick today.  Maybe it was the anticipation, maybe the movie just sucked.  Either way i am unhappy with the outcome.

I thought it was good. Sure you got the cheesey scenes and the love scences, but come on.. You had to expect that it would have those in it.

And as for the ending, I think they did a good job. I've though of and heard a lot of different endings that it could have had (most of which really sucked), but I think they did a good job. Granted I do think the first is the best, but isn't that always the case. For the LOTR I think the first is the best (granted the 3rd one isn't out yet, but I have a feeling that it will be similar feelings towards it as there are towards the 3rd matrix).

I read all the cynical reviews and critiques and I wonder if I watched the same movie afterall. I really enjoyed the Revolutions. Although I still prefer the 1st movie, I felt the finale was well done and matched with and even exceeded my own expectations. One cannot help but muse over the whole story from a philosophical and existential point-of-view. No other ending could have done more justice to our collective expectations than what the directors came up with. The story had reached such epic and idealistic proportions that Neo's personal sacrifice in itself was necessary and easily accepted as more than appropriate. In time, I trust that many people will look back at this Trilogy with totally different eyes.

Another case of making money rather than having a story to tell.

Very disappointing!
