Hi all,
Cory has been busy creating a site for the next version of rainbow. He will be heading up the next version while manu looks after v1 (With everyone working on vnext at some point in the future).
http://next.rainbowportal.net
From the site:
"This project targets both ASP.NET 1.1 and ASP.NET 2.0 Frameworks with a goal of being feature complete by June 2004.
v.Next is the current codename for the next version of the Rainbow Portal. In early 2003 Manu launched his vision of a single ASP.NET portal project and it has been very successful. With the announcement of ASP.NET 2.0 (Whidbey) the excitement around new features has been revived. This site is the official home of a project to create the next best portal software on top of ASP.NET 2.0. At the same time we target ASP.NET 2.0 we will also make a version of the product that runs on ASP.NET 1.1 and upgrades the current Rainbow Portal to include all the new features.
The vision has grown to encompass CMS (Content Management Systems), Portals (Personalized windows into content), XML Web Services, and complete web site administration.
Rainbow has always been an open project that welcomes new ideas and contributions from everyone. Everyone who wants to participate is encouraged to review the requirements and project areas of the site and contribute where interested."
For now I will continue working on V1 with the aim of moving onto vnext in the next 2-3 months.
If you are interested in rainbow or are simply curious about potential portal features for your own solutions then pay us a visit.

Hi all,
Just to let you know that Microsoft have released an asp.net resource kit full of useful information and free components.
Definately worth a look:
The ASP.NET Resource Kit is an essential resource for any web developer whether youre already using ASP.NET today, or looking to learn ASP.NET. The kit contains step-by-step instructions for getting started with ASP.NET, free controls from third party vendors, access to great ASP.NET hosting deals and more.

Thank you to all the people who helped put this resource kit together. I am sure it will help out a lot of people.

Hi all,
Wow, time flies. Last post was in November but I "should" be more proactive with my blogging now that the dust has settled.
Things since November:
1) Moved from Denmark to London (UK) (Whatever amount of time you think it will take to properly move into a new place, at least double it :D ).
2) Found and set-up an Office for me and my colleagues.
3) Met up with some of the other rainbow crew, Jes, Manu, Graz, Ed, Jakob and Thierry. Cory attended the meeting as well via Skype. Meeting with them was great. Exciting things will be happening over the coming months with Rainbow but I don't want to ruin the surprise......yet. To keep track of Rainbow you can visit the site www.rainbowportal.net, the rainbow forum on asp.net or the asp.net forums on www.rainbowportal.net.
You can also keep an eye on my blog (http://weblogs.asp.net/JMandia), Cory's blog (http://blog.coryisakson.com/) or Ed's Blog (http://weblogs.asp.net/edaniel/).
4) I got engaged last night when my girlfriend Maria accepted my proposal (So I am on quite a positive buzz today).
The most important event was getting engaged by far but meeting the other rainbow developers/co-ordinators was also nice.
Watch this space.
John
