Save Streaming Media Files (Including .ASX)

In case you ever wanted to save a local copy of that streaming movie trailer or funny video a friend sent, there's a neat little program called SDP (Streaming Download Project) Reciever which allows you to do this.  Best of all, it's freeware.

It's available here: http://sdp.ppona.com/

Tried it; doesn't work on .wav or .mp3 urls
What DOES it work on?
# May 14, 2004 5:59 PM

Jason Nadal said:

.wav or .mp3 urls can just be saved straightforwardly by "Save Target As...". This program is for files that are purely streamed (like .asx files stream .wmv files and .ram files stream .rm files).

Haven't needed to, so I haven't researched it much.  A cursory search of google for:

convert asx to wma

yields many programs that may work for it... Good Luck!

Looks good but I can't get it to do RAM files.

Says: You are trying to access a Real Networks file type

SDP does not support connection to Real Networks locations

Bummer.

NetworkMiner can also be used to download video or audio files from for example YouTube, Last.fm or The Hype Machine. Read the step-by-step instruction tutorial at:

Are you an ASX expert?  If so, please respond back.  Check out freetrafficcam.com or 3tcam.com.  We get live video to mobile phones and need a way to take some ASX stuff off a web site and get it into our application.

SDP is superb.  I was able to download a media file fm website.

But the connection speed control (TCP/Cable) is disabled.. so download will be a bit slow.

However it is worth it , to download a file which you love to be on your harddisk......

it is working, but it is a bothersome procedure.

i want several streams, whose locations are in an asx file saved as wma. but to do that i first need to edit the asx file, because for some reason the asx files from my source have 2 succeeding <ref ...> entries for the same stream, so i have to manually delete every 2nd one, also i need to rename the file to .asx, because when i download it, it first saves with the extension .cgi

also i would like the program to dl the streamfiles faster or in parallel. that works, if i open several instances of SDP and make .asx files with one <ref ...> entry each, but that is so bothersome. why doesnt the program do this by itself instead of going sequentially through the asx file?

Hey,

Current stock market conditions are not favorable for safe investors. Market is trading highly volatile. Never ignore using stoploss while doing stock market trading.

Day traders should keep very close eye on Nifty and its important levels so that traders can earn money rather than losing it.
