Joshua Prismon's Technical weblog

Are you going to be at the PDC? Check out what Jeff Sandquist just did. I gotta add that to my weblog.

Hey, I wonder too if Dave Winer will be there?

I have to admit, the Microsoftians have been doing a great job hyping this. Of course, the fact that this is going to be 100% unaccessable to small independent contractors (like myself) who can't pony up the multiple K's that the trip and the admission is going to require will limit exactly how much impact that the PDC has. As for me, I will just keep weblogging and hope the new changes don't screw me too bad in the future. (And keep trying to get into the Yukon beta so I can port Verona over to a real CLR database)

I guess you must have missed my bolg entry: http://weblogs.asp.net/donxml/posts/22984.aspx

I'm an indie consultant, and I'll be there. The PDC has been in the works since last year, and I made sure I put the PDC in my budget. I didn't know if it would be this year or early next, but I knew it was coming. As an indie, you have to plan ahead.

Joshua: your chances of getting on various betas are a lot higher if you attend technical conferences. Not saying that's fair, but it's reality.

I feel your pain...I'm also in your situation. I'm not saying anything bad about PDC...it'll be a great conference for sure (I was at the last two PDCs), but not going to PDC doesn't mean you'll be left behind, it just means we won't get that extra kick start, which isn't the same thing! ;)

As for planning ahead Don, that's true, but some of us are just starting and don't have a huge amount of business yet, so that's a little difficult to do! :P

Erik, you are right. Other circumstances can effect your plans, and at the end of the day you still have to cost justify it to yourself (the toughest boss around). DonXML

That's the situation with me. I already have three or four production .NET systems out there, but that is over a few years as I pick up work on the side to help out with the economy.
