Problem with GDN and the PTE bits...
26 October 05 03:17 PM | Joel Semeniuk | 2 comment(s)

There is a membership limit with the GDN site I created for the Process Template Editor.  More people are knocking than I can let in.  I've asked for more options from the GDN team.

Until then you can download the alpha bits here:

Sorry for the problems...

VSTS Process Template Editor Alpha Preview 1

The alpha preview is out.  What is an alpha preview you ask?  It means it barely works with Beta 3 right now.  It turns out that conforming to the Process Template schema files are simply not enough to make Mr. Team System happy.  So, that was the big hold up - that and we didn't get the schema's until a couple of weeks ago and we decided to just throw what we already did away and start fresh.

I'll post an update of the outstanding bugs and features in another post.  We are anticipating weekly releases, so stay tuned.

Security Webcasts in November 2005

As you may or may not know, I used to present a whack of webcasts on Security and .NET.  Of course, this stuff is out of date when it comes to Visual Studio 2005 and related technologies.  If you are interested in Security there is going to be another whack of webcasts focused on Security in November.  Unfortunately I won't be presenting, however, I know some of the presenters - top notch material.  You can see the list of webcasts at:

Lap Around Team System...
06 October 05 11:10 AM | Joel Semeniuk | with no comments

I get asked a lot of "what the heck does Team System do.." type questions.  There are big expectations out there and it seems that Team System will be everything to all people.  A fellow RD Derek Hatchard joked that he's heard that Team System "...filters out accents for offshore outsourcing shops and removes meat product references for vegetarian coders"

Well, there is an article that summarizes what Team System will do.  Unfortunately, it is slightly out of date as it was written basically at the same time Beta 2 launched.  It's taken a while to get up on the MSDN site - but here it is "Lap Around Team System"  Notice the article doesn't give any credit to the author.. hmm.. I wonder who it is?
