high tech home

so i've discovered my new favorite show. High Tech Home. i discovered it on the local PBS channel WHUT on saturday afternoon. granted it's a giant ad for Microsoft and Best Buy, but i'm a gadget junkie. and since i'm currently waiting for my new home to be finished being built i've been investing more and more into home design and stuff like that. i've just finished watching(check program #305) an older episode ( circa 2002 ) that looked like there was some early Media Center pieces along with early SPOT items, doors open when you have a connected device, Windows Media piped through the house, etc. they showed a completly mock home, but damn some of that stuff is uber-cool. i've got a rather large list of items to be going into the new home. so, my question is do people really own this stuff? and if so, have you modified it to work how you live?

next up: CEDIA episode. i love you TiVO.

Yep, isn't TIVO the best?! Our whole house just adores it. We hate to travel - we can't find the pause button on the remote controls in hotels. In the car I get frustrated, because there isn't a pause/replay button for the radio. TV is still TV, but TIVO makes it almost good.
