Let me first say that I did not take my laptop to this gig, since i've been luggin' it around all day. That said this session was uber-cool.
- The new personalization store will be kick ass if it works like promised. I like the idea of my internal apps having a portal feel with out the cost of a portal. The idea is that there is one central Personalization store (think MSN.Com) that stores cross app data. Then each app has it's own Personalization store that has specific items for that app (think Hotamail).
- Provider based items. These things I'm kinda getting my head around. From the sound anything that has a datastore (ie caching, session state) will be able to refernce a provider that you have setup in a config file. So your session state can hit an Oracle database or something like that. Like I said I'm still working on this idea and it maybe completely wrong.
- Web part personalization. Taking the good stuff from Sharepoint and allowing us to use it. This will be backwards compat, so that webparts that are coded today should work on Whidbey. Also it was mentioned that a CMS/Sharepoint will all be built in the future on ASP.Net and that the Web Parts in ASP.Net talk will show a VERY protype version of Sharepoint V3.
Those are just a sampling a few things that were discussed. There were several bloggers around me that will probably have more to say about it also.
