Re: Annoying

I so wanted to post "This is my first comment", but i refrained. Bet it would have been funny though.
I don't mind them, I generally will read them in hopes that I get "some" background on the person posting like who they are, what they do and other general stuff like that. It's like a book, you read the jacket to get the basics of the book. If it doesn't catch you in that little blurb then you probably won't read the book. It's one damn post. It's not the end of the world. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Why do people feel the need to post a blog about their first blog.  How does that help us?  At least some people have the common courtesy to say “Hey this is my first blog” AND include some nice technical information.  I wish I could bill all the people that wrote about it being their first blog.  It is a complete and utter waste of time.  What is more annoying is that these people are supposed to be the cream of the crop so to speak in our industry.  Do us all a favor and skip over the “This is my first blog” crap.  I dare you to be different.

You made several points. I don't agree with any of them, but hey, your entitled to your opinion. That is what makes this world great.

Usually in the cover of a book, I get a feel for what the book is about. With some moronic "Hey this is my first blog isnt that great" I dont get that.

I am all for background information, but 50% of the initial blog posts are senseless, idiotic ramblings. Post something cool, post something silly, but post something that people want to actually read.

Jason,

It's not just "one damn post". It really adds up when you have to go through a couple hundred postings each day on the main weblogs feed. Sucks up a lot of time.

At this point I am trying to decide if the value I gain from these blogs is worth the time I have to spend deleting off-topic posts. I wish there a site-wide "off-topic" filter.

Why Do People feel the need to post a reply to a blog that tells other people what to do with their blogs. Mabye you should make your own blog and write about yourself and instead of telling people how to live their lives mabye you should go and make one for yourself.
