From today to the day that Microsoft will replace Live Search by “Kumo” (details: Does Live Search will become Kumo?), if this really happen, I’ll be posting everyday a www.Live.com screenshot. Why? Simple. I just think that many of the background photos published there are very creative, like some of the Google’s holiday logos.

Does Live Search will become Kumo?

This week many web sites have announced about the internal testing of a new Search service in Microsoft, but now some people are also saying that this service will be the substitute for Live Search.

The service called Kumo already have registered domains (.COM e .COM.BR) by Microsoft, confirming our questions.

CNet News also published a screenshot that can be the actual version of Kumo (that means “cloud” or “spider” in japanese).

Microsoft Live Labs Thumbtack

Thumbtack is a new service developed by Live Labs. I’d define it as a Web version of Office OneNote.

You can create many collections, share them and publish in a web site.

You can capture a web site page and send to one of your collections by adding a Favorites entry on your browser that will show a panel like the picture bellow.

As you can see, there’s some problems the dynamic pages (pages that use JavaScript for styles and effects), but maybe this will be improved after some time. We also have an Internet Explorer 8 Accelerator that allows sending selected text to a Thumbtack collection.

I really liked this new interface with buttons like polygons.

You should take a look on what’s coming on. Ah, Internet Explorer has some more features that made it more usable. That’s great!

SharePoint - Export using STSADM causing "Failed to compare two elements in the array"

Today I faced a problem during the SharePoint server migration that I'm working on. First I made the backup for the database and restored it on the destination server, but it didn't work very well. The root site collection didn't work, I just received a "404 Page not found" error from it.

So I chose to import/export every site collection from the entire web application, and surprise....another error. But this time I received the "Failed to compare two elements in the array" error message during the root site collection export.

This is one of the annoying error messages from SharePoint, but a visit to Live Search and the answeer comes! Steven Van De Craen a SharePoint MVP suggested that the problem is caused by an invalid Feature registration, and then he provided a tool to enumerate all site features and display which is invalid, allowing its removal from within the application.
