Michael Yuan's Windows Mobile Thoughts

New Advances in .NET Mobile Technologies

Fawcette published my article today as part of their TechEd coverage. The article surveys several important .NET Mobile technologies from 30,000 feet: ASP.NET 2.0, .NET CF 2.0, Visual studio 2005 and MapPoint. I did not have room for the Speech Server. Oh well, next time!

Thank you for giving us the glimpse into the new mobile development tools.

I have few questions.

1) In your article you said...

"Visual Studio 2005 now supports mixed development and debugging of both managed .NET Compact Framework code and native eVC code in the same project"

Thus, does that mean that one will no longer have to use eVC++, but rather do all embedded development from VS.NET 2005?

2) Will COM interop in .NET CF 2.0 be possible?

This is with regards to SAPI (COM based speech API interfaces) in WinCE.

3) In WinCE 5.0 are there any enhancements to Voice/Speech technologies?

Thank you

Mike
