[Game Programming] Design, Development, and Football(?) musing of Brian Hook
I really like this site. The Book of Hook, now how cool is that. Right now Brian contributes heavily to MUD-Dev and now with Virtual Sales being the hot-ticket item (boy they never quit once they get started), he figured on posting his economy design notes. He has 4 articles in the series right now and they are pretty decent. Nothing new here in what he is talking about, mainly just his own personal notes on the subject.
In addition to the economy notes he has articles on many other design topics including using the concept of speed in games for difficulty/fun, what I would consider a rant against the game review industry and their review logic (or lack thereof), and a couple of AI style articles. His development section extends out to mainly network gaming and multiplayer features with what some focus on PDA development.
Maybe you'll enjoy his musings as much as I do. Definitely a resource to keep on your shelf (yeah baby, etch it in there with a push pin), and I'm sure he'll enjoy your feedback (he especially enjoys rants about the fragile nature of the Glide API) if you want to drop him a line on his forums. All around good guy. Enjoy.
