Language parsing and compiler design doesn't have to be hard, but boy this book really sucks!

How'd you like that for an opening title? Did it grab your attention? Hell, your reading this far so I guess it did. The book I'm focusing on here is Build Your Own .NET Language and Compiler and please, don't click the link and then go buy it. I don...

We've all recently fallen prey to the weblogs.asp.net changes to increase throughput on the server.

I like some of the excellent changes Scott has made to make sure the pages load as quickly as possible, and realize the necessity to remove large pieces of content such as the users list on the main page, reducing the number of recent postings on the...

Gaming: Fable, two views in one. Is this good or bad? (no pun intended)

To start, congrats to all those that actually syndicate my feed directly, you get a custom rant of sorts. Actually a bit better, you get my own insights as a game designer on a popular game, and your own opportunity to provide your own feedback which...

A reader of my blog points out that System.Drawing.GDI is frigin gone in the betas...

Well, I wasn't planning on pointing this out, but I did know about it. You see, when I first glanced at this particular feature, I started playing with the performance characteristics and you know what I found? Well, it speeds up double buffering immensely...

A quick note on security and anti-spam tactics that take advantage of human pattern matching abilities...

Okay, so the BlogX engine now has a security word. Well, that is fine I guess. These strips take advantage of the ability of the human mind to process patterns and make out words in a distorted image. So I'll start by saying, I've failed the recognition...

A long MUD-Dev thread on intelligence of NPC's, and some extremely faulty arguments...

For a very long time now it has been assumed the definition of computer intelligence would be answered using the following conjecture: It is proposed that a machine may be deemed intelligent, if it can act in such a manner that a human cannot distinguish...
