One of the things we are looking at in the new CSK for Whidbey application (CSK 2.0, CSK 2004, whatever else you want
to call it) is being able to select from more than one option for storing
User and Role information. This article
outlines the basics of getting Active Directory information.
As far as where we are headed for User base:
- SysAdmin can select a single user pool for all sites (good for intranet
setups)
- SysAdmin can select User source:
- Database - SQL, Oracle, Access, MySql, whatever provider is available
- NT Authority - taps into NT users and groups
- AD - taps into users and groups *or* OUs (Organizational
Units)
- SysAdmin can allow the SiteAdmin to choose (good for internet setups)
- SiteAdmin can select User source:
- Database - SQL, Oracle, Access, MySql, whatever provider is available
- NT Authority - taps into NT users and groups
- AD - taps into users and groups *or* OUs (Organizational
Units)
- SysAdmin can tie 2 or more sites to a common user pool
- SysAdmin can tie 2 or more sites to a common group pool
These are the rough ideas right now. As we flesh it out I'll post more
info...
