I will have to wait before I get one. I have said from the beginning that there are only 2 conditions that would make me buy another gaming system. In Microsfts case those would be backwards compatible (which they say they will have) and ZERO cost for internet game play! I pay for broadband and will not pay a dime more. I buy the games, I but the hardware, pay for internet.. what more is needed to justify them having a small expense of some servers to organize the gamers and let people meet up. (for MS that is a minor expense)

re: ASP.NET Beta 2 web sites, SCCS and Cloaking

I believe that any DataLayer must be a simple code block, that they allow operations against DB.

That code block would not have to know on the Business Entities. Single to specialize it is to execute the operations (Store Procedures and SQL Sentences) against the engine DB (SQL, Oracle, DB2, etc.), with which this setting.

Finally, I invite to you to download the DataLayer.Primitives Public Version.

This is very cool Data Layer :)

DataLayer.Primitives - Readme!
http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1389

Cheers,

Javier Luna
http://guydotnetxmlwebservices.blogspot.com/

re: ASP.NET Beta 2 web sites, SCCS and Cloaking

Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to get the scenario you mention fully working for the Beta2 release. We appreciate that you are blogging about it and are sharing workarounds that users can implement for now.

You'll be glad to know that we've fixed this problem since the Beta2 release. The fix we have made post Beta2 is to not put any files that originate for Project references under source control which should address the concern you voice. You should be able to test this change in future CTPs and the final release of the product.

Please feel free to email me directly if you have more questions (omark-at-microsoft-dot-com).

Omar Khan
Lead Program Manager
Visual Web Developer

re: ASP.NET Beta 2 web sites, SCCS and Cloaking

An even better solution would be to pitch Studio integration with your SCM. It was quite useful. Since then, if I wanted to set a read-only property from outside the class, such as when loading from data source, I would implement something like:

internal SetMyReadOnlyProperty(string value){
_myReadOnlyProperty = value;
}

private string _myReadOnlyProperty = string.Empty;
public string MyReadOnlyProperty{
get{ return _myReadOnlyProperty; }
}

Thanks for the tip, K!
