A while back I bought a Netgear MR814 wireless router for my girlfriend's house. However, I've always had problems holding a strong wireless connection. The back of the house doesn't get a very strong signal, and my connection would frequently drop. For a while I chalked the connection losses up to poor signal strength, but recently I found the following article on Netgear's support site:
It recommends disabling 802.1x authentication in Windows XP, claiming that XP's support for 802.1x is buggy. Wherever the bugs lie, it seemed to do the trick. I can now hold a connection to the router consistently, even when the signal strength is on the low side. If you're having similar connectivity problems, give it a try.
Yes, it's official. Season 2 of Red vs Blue stinks. Actually, it was official 3 or 4 episodes ago, but I was holding out hope that things would improve. It pains me to say this, as I was a huge fan of Season 1. What happened? How did things go so wrong? In my opinion, it went wrong when they took out the f***ing swearing. Half (or more) of the hilarity of the show was the military guys ripping in to each other. Some of the insults have even made it into my friends' vernacular.
Then in season 2 they decided to clean in up, perhaps in an effort to reach a wider audience. The problem is that given the rather limited narrative tableau that the Halo world offers, there isn't enough to work with to create an engaging comedy/drama. In other words, (to borrow a phrase from Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man) the show has become a p***y-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself. I don't think I've laughed once this season. Season one I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard.
Come on, guys. Bring back the edgy, raw, wicked humor that make Season 1 an instant classic. Stick with the R rating. Rated G is no fun. No fun at all.
