Expression Web Designer Installation Problems/Fixes

Like many others, I've been having problems with a failed installation of Expression Web Designer as downloaded from Microsoft downloads. According to a post in the newsgroup microsoft.public.expression.webdesigner, the problem is with the digital signature on the installer. They've uploaded a fixed version, so we'll have to try again.

Here are excerpts from the posts by Devindra S. Chainani, Group Program Manager, Expression Web Designer:

"The one on microsoft.com somehow got corrupted while getting replicated across servers thought we are not sure how the digital signature on that package became invalid. In any case, we know the problem is not with the actual exe or the program's bits. The problem is with the digital signature on the installer.

"The version will say 4017.1004 when you click Help | About but it will say 4017.1003 if you right click on the file
WebDesigner_setup.exe file and check the version. "The exe will be indentical. "The key difference will be the presence of the 'Digital Signature' tab when you rigjht click on the WebDesigner_setup.exe file and the signature will be
valid."
