Using Your Old Menus in Word 2007

The Ribbon interface in Office 2007 is okay, but when I'm under the gun to get something done, I don't want to spend time figuring out the new way.

I was thinking about writing some macros to re-create the Word 2003 menus in Word 2007. No need! Former MVP Charles Steinhardt has commericalized Toolbar Toggle to replicate the menus and toolbars from earlier versions of Word and Excel.

Interesting to note that it appears to use Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) and therefore requires the .NET runtime (included in the installer). The techniques involved would make a great article!

Anyway, for less than $20 you can get back your Office productivity while learning the latest and greatest as you have time.

Check it out at http://www.toolbartoggle.com/ .

  • For those who have just upgraded to Office 2007 from office 2003, it may be a frustration and dislike to spend time searching commands scattered in the ribbon. Now, you don't need to create the Macro to re-create the Word 2003 menus in Word 2007, Classic Menu for Office 2007 can be the solution.
Addintools say that it brings back all office 2003 classic menus and toolbars to the new ribbon. When you are using it in office 2007, you may feel like working in office 2003. Anyway, after you expereience classic menu do you know how amazing it is.
