I received a few queries about this so I thought I better just make a quick statement: Window Clippings 2.1 works great on Windows 7.
I’ve also updated the website to point this out.
Great news!
When can we expect v3, BTW?
Good news, kenny!
Is there also a portable version available?
anonym: No ETA yet I’m afraid.
Peter: In the next version. The best I can offer you at this point is to use a .reg file to register automatically.
It does indeed work perfectly on Windows 7, with one fairly minor cosmetic problem. When dragging a selection or refining a crop, the "elastic band" is not visible.
Steve: Yes, it’s due to a bug in Windows 7 that only presents itself on some video cards. If it becomes a problem I’ll release a patch otherwise I’ll continue with WC3 which provides a completely new capture surface. [Also, I fixed your name in the comment.]
I'd like to suggest it come with a "Send To Printer" on the right-click. Looking forward to your new release, since I use it all the time. :) It's a handy tool for getting images of apps to put together documentation, among other things.
Actually this isn't entirely true. When trying to capture a program window full screen it will also capture the Windows start menu and taskbar.
ToddH: The Window Clippings 2.x releases were not really focused on capturing maximized windows. Windows 7 is no exception. It is however a popular request that I’m considering for the next release.
