Natural Language Blogging

Too much noise?

I have seen a few people complaining about all the noise on ASP.NET Weblogs. What if Scott introduced a blog voting system? Registered users would be able to vote on the value/relevancy of a blog post.  Users would be able to set a threshold, and posts scoring below it would not be displayed in the aggregate view for that user.  We could go a step further and the vote can be applied to the user itself rather than individual posts.  This would encourage people to post only what they felt to be relevant/useful.  Please leave comments and let me know what you think?

I don't think this is a good idea, why not just have a option in .Text so a user can say if they want there post on the main feed or not. People should be able to post on what the hell they want and not be judged by others on it.

Totally agree with Andrew. It's true that like many other here, I am not a technical writer, so how people can judge honestly when here you can find guys who write articles every day of their life !
No way, for me people should talk about ahat they want, and use the Articles features for long posts until Scott fix the problem.

I agree with Andrew...
One of the things I miss more is to be able to select what to put on the main feed, and what to keep on my personal feed...

See my post here about this.

FWIW: I'm looking over the .Text code now and figuring out how it generates the different feeds to see if I can add something like this. I think this kind of functionality is better controlled by the publisher rather than the consumer.

Cool! Just like slashdot. IMHO, the content of slashdot has really improved with the voting system. Reading only the 4s and 5s the discussion is really quite intelligent, interesting, and entertaining.
