Anyone use Cogentco

We are in the process of bringing our natural language technologies to the online search market. Well as you can assume crawling the web for billions of pages requires HUGE bandwith. Pricing out leased line costs I find cogent prices extremely attractive. Do you always get what you paid for? I was hoping if anyone who has dealt with or use this company can offer some insight. We will be relocating to New York City next month and this is one of the areas they serve.

Too much noise?

I have seen a few people complaining about all the noise on ASP.NET Weblogs. What if Scott introduced a blog voting system? Registered users would be able to vote on the value/relevancy of a blog post. Users would be able to set a threshold, and posts scoring below it would not be displayed in the aggregate view for that user. We could go a step further and the vote can be applied to the user itself rather than individual posts. This would encourage people to post only what they felt to be relevant/useful. Please leave comments and let me know what you think?

GPL Questions

Roy Osherove gives us the very nice Regulator.

In this he is using a GPL'd SharpDevelop control and non GPL ComponentOne.

This would make The Regulator fall under the license of GPL. Now wouldn't adding the ComponentOne controls require that too to be GPL, which Roy does not have the right to give? This may not be the case. I am just trying to understand how this works.

If you are looking for a way to manage your sample code, snippets, articles, etc. get Code Library. It is available in SQL Server and access versions. Very high quality software and FREE. You can even drag links to files right into the files box and it will download it and store it in the database. Very cool!
