Tablet PC + 12.1" + SXGA+ (like Toshiba M200)

Anyone have the Toshiba M200 tablet or one like it with a 12.1" screen and SXGA+ resolution?  Trying to decide whether or not it would be too small of a screen.  I want to have at least SXGA+ resolution, and would like to get a tablet, but 12.1" seems a little small.

I am mainly looking at getting the Toshiba M400 one the SXGA+ option is available again, but the M200 is about the same size and only came in SXGA+.

Any feedback?  Too small?  Look ok?  Would definitely be doing a lot of development on it, so feedback on how Visual Studio is on it would be great.

I've been using one since they came out. It's fine for development work. I use for writing mostly. I have Vista running on it now. No complaints. You can email me if you have specific questions jlsglynn@gmail.com

I've had the M200 since 11/04. The screen size is adaquate, unless you are travelling alot, then it is great.

There is not much difference than my IBM T41 with a 14.1" screen. The docking station is helpful when i'm at my desk, as I prefer to work with (at least) dual monitors.

I upgraded the memory to 1.25 GB and run VS2003 or VS2005, with SQL 2000, SQL 2005, and Oracle Express. No issues.

If you go with the M200, you will need to clean out some of the programs from Startup as Toshiba seems to load alot of stuff that provides only marginal benefit.

I hope this information helps.

I've been using the M200 for development for a while now too. IMO screen size isn't an issue, VS.NET looks fine in the default 1400x1050 res.

As with KC, I upgraded the memory to 1.25GB and can work in VS.NET on it no problems. Virtual PC also works reasonably well, especially using an external hard drive. I was even using it to do some prototyping a while back with BizTalk and MCMS VPC images - whilst they weren't blisteringly fast, they ran well enough to work in.

I do a lot of development, and after using it for 18 months I don't think I'd ever buy another non-tablet notebook again. For me, the tablet features like marking up documents, taking notes in meetings (and being able to search them later), being able to work (and watch videos) on public transport, annoying my friends by talking to them in ink on msn messenger etc are well worth the trade-off in performance / higher price point.

I just bought one today and I have to say i'm impressed.
Originally I wanted a 14" screen, but the 12 is fine.
In fact, it's just night. Was going to wait for Origami, i think this is much better and a hell of a lot more versatile

Toshiba ships the Tecra R10 with Windows Vista Business as standard, and this operating system comes with its own performance measurement tool, the Windows Experience Index. Under this, the Tecra achieved a score of 3.8, but this was pegged back by the system's low score for 3D gaming graphics due to the integrated functions in its Intel chipset. For each of memory, graphics and hard disk performance, the Tecra scored over 5, where 5.9 is the maximum
