Working to have USB on VPC

I'm trying to see USB hardware from VPC...

At the moment I'm stuck here...

I'll keep you informed...

InVirtus VM Optimizer 2.0 final version released - updated review!

The final version of InVirtus VM Optimizer 2.0 was released yesterday.

This morning I tried it and updated my review. You can find it here.

It's really impressive.

I started with a 3.85Gb vhd (NTFS compressed, size on disk 2.51Gb) and using VM Optimizer I obtained a 850Mb vhd (NTFS compressed, size on disk 452Mb).

This result is better than the prerelease version (that compressed the vhd at 892Mb, size on disk 466Mb) and much much better than the manual process (cleanup, optimization, defrag, erase) that produced a 2.53Gb file (size on disk 1,61Gb).

What can I say... really incredible!!!

You can try the 14 days evaluation version here.

MSF 4 Resources list updated!!!

I've updated my MSF 4 resources list with the official download links, the official MSF 4 sites, some blogs (official and from third parties, like Thomas Lee's blog or my MSF blogs)

You can find it here: MSF 4.0 Resources list (updated Nov 2005)

I really hope to find the time to keep it updated.

I also added the last update date in the links on the right pane of the blog.

MSF 4 Agile updated build

It's the build 100, so it's newer than the TFS Beta 3 Refresh version. At a first look nothing seems changed, but it's good that it's available as a standalone download.

MSF for Agile Software Development is a scenario-driven, context-based, agile software development process that utilizes many of the ideas embodied in Team System.

What is the future of Virtual PC?

Considering that now Virtual Server 2005 R2 is priced 99$... what's the future for Virtual PC?

A free edition like VMware Player?

A confluence of the two products (VPC and VS Standard)?

Italian Agile Day

On December 16th, 2005 there will be the second edition of the Italian Agile Day.

The Italian Agile Day is a free one day conference about all aspects of agile software development. The conference will focus on software development methods that follow the Agile Manifesto including: eXtreme Programming, SCRUM, Feature Driven Development, DSDM, Crystal and Lean Software Development.

I'll be there to speak about MSF for Agile Software Development. The conference is in Italian, and will be in Milan.

Refactor! for VB2005 build 25 - ready for VS2005 RTM but still RC

Thanks to my friend Corrado for the download link...

Be careful that is not the final version, only a RC, because of this:

NB: There is one known issue we're working on: When encapsulating generic fields, the generated code fails to place the generic type specifier inside parentheses. We expect to release an update that corrects that shortly. If you would like to be automatically notified when we release, simply choose the registration option below.

VSTS Licensing

Really interesting document that clarifies a lot of little known points about VSTS Licensing, both client and server.

An overview of Visual Studio 2005 Team System licensing.

Interested in architecture, ASP.NET, design patterns, unit testing, and a lot of other interesting things? There is a new blog for you!

My friend Andrea [MVP, President of the biggest .NET italian user group, INETA Europe VP, etc...] has started a new blog in english.

He is a great architect and an expert of ASP.NET, design patterns, unit testing and a lot of other topics that now I don't remember .

You can read also one of his articles here on MSDN Magazine (written with Dino Esposito).
