Tech Ed 2004

I've got the invitation for the Tech Ed 2004 in Israel, which will be located, for the 4th time, in Eilat (a beautiful southern quiet city). What I've noticed in the tracks list is that there are almost no lectures regarding ASP.NET. The main focus of the lectures is around integration, office system, smart client & mobile and, of course, security.

I wonder - aren't we running too fast? I understand the passion for the new technologies, but hey - we live in the present, not in the future! (this privilege is kept for Michael J. Fox) What am I going to do now with the knowledge about creating rotating text using XAML? It's really nice, no kidding, but I can't buy my bread and butter with it. In order to make profits now, I still need to use the good old(?) ASP.NET apps, with all the known browser limitation.

I do think that a lecture about the DAL application block may be more useful than the XAML hip-hop capabilities, for now.

BTW, I may attend one of the lectures.

Strong point!

although I'm one runners (and it makes me tired) I also think that daily practical approach is also required as main part of Tech Ed.

Actually, the DAL app block was only an example. What I was trying to say is that we better concentrate on what we have right now than stare wide-eyed at bright new technologies that will be availabe, in the better case, a year from now.
