VSTO setup issues

While reading the VSTO setup instructions, I found the following paragraph under the “Troubleshooting Setup”:

  • Issue: High contrast mode hides text in the Setup wizard.

If you have your monitor set to use High Contrast, the text in the Setup wizard is not visible.

To view the text in the Setup Wizard

  1. Open the Control Panel, choose Accessibility Options, and then click the Display tab.

  2. Clear the Use High Contrast option.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Run Setup for Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System again.

It's not the first time I read setup instruction, however this is the first time I see a setup issue regarding the contrast settings of the monitor. But why stop there? Maybe there is a problem in the brightness settings? Or even better - maybe the monitor is not turned on!

MS guys, is there any special reason for listing this problem?

High contrast in this case refers to a particular color scheme, not physical settings on the display.

High Contrast has nothing to do with monitor settings.

It's a special display mode that uses a high contrast color scheme along with large fonts to help people with vision disabilities to better see what is on-screen. A simple test would be to just follow the instructions and see how the High Contrast settings affects the display of Windows.

And why in hell did you get the idea that something accessed through Accessibility Options has anything to do with the contrast of the monitor?
