Twitter widget for Windows Mobile 6.5

I have just uploaded the first version of my latest project, Twidger, a Twitter widget for Windows Mobile 6.5.

You can use it to read your friends tweets, see your history, search for tweets, see popular searches, read direct messages etc.

I have some screenshots here:

Screen01

When you open the widget you must login to Twitter. No credentials are saved in the Widget.

The startscreen with you latest tweet on the top and your friends latest below.

If you click on the icon at the top left you will be able to write a new tweet.

If you click on “Retweet” you can easy retweet a message.

It´s also easy to reply on a tweet, just click reply.

If you click on the right soft key (menu) you get this. You can show your friends latest tweets, your direct messages, an archive with your latest tweets and search for tweets.

This is the archive.

On the search page you will get a list on the most popular searches for the moment.

If we click on “Diane Sawyer” in the list, you will automatically get the latest tweets for that search.

If we click on “@bkearney” in the list, we will search for that user. The same works with hashtags like #WinMo.

All external links will be opened in your standard browser.

Future features:

  • Better design.
  • Post direct messages.
  • Better design.
  • Read all latest tweets (not just from friends).
  • Better design.
  • Integrate with shorten URL services.
  • Ohh… Did I mention better design? If not: Better design.

Hi,

Just spent a couple of hours figuring out how this will work on Samsung Omnia II with Windows Mobile 6.5 (should therefore also work for others with WM6.5):

How to (at least for me):

1. Download the file 'twidger.widget' to your computer

2. Rename the extension to .wgt (found out that WM6.5 does not recognize .widget but .wgt)

3. Upload 'twidger.wgt' file to your device, anywhere

4. On your device, browse to the file with Total Commander or Resco (these two programs are file browsers with more advanced choices than the included file browsers-google it!).

5. For file, choose open with \Windows\wmwidgetinstaller.exe

6. Start file, install screen comes up, install normally

7. Voila! :)

See also forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php and the enable_widgets_wm6.5.cab if you cannot install the file. Good luck!

Does this require a touch screen phone?  Or will it work on the HTC Ozone?

Hi Minhdinh/Mikael,

I installed Twidger on my Samsung Omnia II by following your instructions. It's visible in the row of widgets as a white bird in blue square. So far so good.

But when I drag it to my screen it changes to a larger square with the title Twidger and the word status and I can see part of an update line... The widget doesn't work when I try to activate it by tapping on it.

Do you have an idea where it might have gone wrong?
