ASP.NET MVC Hosting Recommendation (if you're on a budget)

If you are looking for ASP.NET hosting, I HIGHLY recommend you check out DailyRazor.com

I wouldn't usually write up about a hosting company unless I really liked what they were offering.  I think they have the best deal out there for ASP.NET hosting.  I recommended them to a friend who was looking to host his site and he was extremely grateful.  I figured the rest of the ASP.NET community might appreciate it as well.  I'm actually hosting a few websites with them using the ASP.NET MVC Framework and have no complaints.  I am especially impressed with their technical support.  They respond quickly and solve issues with very little "back and forth".

They also have this "quadruple promotion" that lets you upgrade any plan (starting from 5.95/month) to quadruple the features you get.  The cheapest package of 5.95/month gets you 8 websites and 8 MSSQL 2005 databases.  This is the best deal I've found on hosting.  I think you also get 15% off of your order.  If you're looking for hosting, I highly recommend these guys. Make sure you ask about the "quadruple promotion" if you don't see an add for it.  Check them out:  http://www.dailyrazor.com.

I am assuming I am the friend.  Yes, Mike referred me to the dailyrazor and I got 2 years including up to 8 Sql Server databases for just over a hundred dollars.

When I deployed blogengine.net; it was throwing an error that I could not figure out, so I opened a ticket and received help within about 10 minutes.

I'm on webhost4life and I really like it... but I'm getting to the point that I might need to upgrade to a higher level hosting. But the cost is much much more... almost 4-5 times

Hi to all,

very nice offers and features provided for sure.

Just wanted to note that it doesn't support Windows server 2008 with IIS 7, rather Windows 2003 with IIS 6. Doesn't this add some additional complexity on asp.net mvc technologies?

Furthermore, what about web application pools? Do all the domains that you can host under the same account share the same application pool (also shared with  other foreign account domains)?

I guess you just can't have it all...

You're absolutely correct.  At the time of this writing, they do not use IIS7.  There is in fact some slight modifications that must be made by tech support to configure IIS6 to support ASP.NET MVC.  I believe they have plans to upgrade to IIS7 in the future.  I've been hosting GiftListr for Facebook and some other apps on there and haven't had a problem yet.

You just can't beat that price!

I'm talking to their Sales team right now and they're saying they do not support ASP.NET MVC on their shared packages.  Bummer, because I'm in need as well.

Please keep in mind that ASP.NET MVC is still in BETA so its quite obvious that they would not provide it on their production servers out of the box.  This is the case with any web host.  I wouldn't want them to be deploying BETA software to my servers either.

You need to deploy your MVC app using the copy local true option.  There's plenty of resources for configuring this.  If you need help setting it up, please let me know.

I'm hosting 3 ASP.NET MVC apps currently with them.

Here are some resources for using bin-deployment:

Feel free to contact me if you need additional help.

I am hosting a asp.net mvc site with them and url routing seems not to be working. I am using asp.net mvc preview 5. And the bins are deployed with the project.

Check it out and please advice what are you using on your sites that you host with them.

Ladies and gentlemen - YOU DO NOT NEED IIS7 TO HOST AN ASP.NET MVC SITE!

Yes as MikeBosch says you don't need iis7. But specifically for dailyrazor i had to tell the guys enable pipe something on my account and after that everything worked perfectly on the site.

P.S. They seem to be a good host, so kudos up from me if your searching for hosting.

Mike, thanks for the tip. I'm hosting my ASP.NET MVC site on DailyRazor and I'm really pleased by their service.

I had the URL rewriting problem ( "document not found" ) , e-mailed the support, they installed MVC on their server or something and now the site is working like a charm.

So it IS now ( Jan 2009 ) possible to host ASP.NET MVC sites on DailyRazor without doing any workarounds and other difficult stuff.

I believe that you should go with asphostdirectory.com. I am with them, paying only $3.99/month for the MVC hosting and I believe it is worth it.

Their service is also excellent and that's why I have no problem recommending their service to you guys :)

I signed up for their services based on the feedback here and I have to say that these guys are a joke. I have worked in the hosting industry for over 5 years and have never seen support so bad.

I WOULD NOT recommend their services to anyone at all. Just trying to connect to their database server caused issues with SMS 2008 that their support could not solve (it's a user permissions error within the security on the server). Then there were the issues getting them to setup the main domain for MVC use, as described here. They had no clue on what they had to do.

Within 27 hours I have canceled my account (or at least trying to cause I cannot get a human to answer the phone).

hi there,

I host my site with ASPHostCentral.com (www.asphostcentral.com/ASP-NET-MVC-Hosting.aspx) currently and they do support .NET3.5 and the latest ASP.NET MVC Framework. Obviously, there are many hosts which support these technologies and I made my choice based on my several findings:

1. The hosting price is considerable cheap and reasonable. I do not intend to look for the cheapest service, yet to see my site up and down like a rollercoaster in a day. I am paying around $4.99/month to ASPHostCentral and with the decent service I get, I am pleased and excited.

2. I only want to look for a host that truly specializes in Windows and ASP.NET hosting. I have searched tons of companies, offering attractive services, such as cheaper service, bigger or better features, etc, however, most of them are not "focused". They offer everything, from Windows-based to Linux-based, VPS, Dedicated service, everything. At first it may look attractive but problem may arise when you have problem. The support staff may be lack of skill and knowledge as they have so many things to consider/learn. With my current host, they do only know about Windows-based hosting and they are expert in providing solution when I have problems

3. Great Control Panel features. I want to do everything instantly, requiring less time and without needing to contact support. With my current host, I can achieve it without any fuss!

Those are my main criteria when selecting them. I hope this can be a good experience for you all :)

hi Alex,

As far as I am concerned, IXWebHosting is a Linux-based hosting and if you are looking for a Linux-based host, maybe you can go with them.

Since you are looking for an ASP.NET MVC host, I would recommend ASPHostCentral.com. I have hosted 3 sites with them for months and I know that they are truly excellent in managing ASP.NET and Windows-based server.

The latest ASP.NET MVC 2 is now out on the market and they have well supported it. Good luck!

that's my comment about their support... 5 days without any response, not even a "we are looking at it" while it seems i am just on a server where MVC is not installed (says it is an assembly problem and it can't find the file).
