The software itself is free, but you pay for the maintainance and program development.

One should realise, that in Microsoft solution, you have to pay both support AND the software. In Linux scenario, you're free of the software price, and pay only for the thing the customer really wants, the support.

I don't totally agree with Capt. Jean-Luc Pikachu here, because usenet isn't just the way big corporations are going to use.

To tell about myself, I prefer XP for my home desktop, and GNU/Linux applications for server-side solutions.

re: Is Linus Torvalds secretly working for Microsoft?

"Is Linus Torvalds secretly working for Microsoft? Sadly I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head that isn't similarly biased, so....

The author kinda sorta forgot that Red Hat isn't the be-all end-all of Linux, and that you can get any distro for free and help is just a usenet post away.

Security and developers (and a Microsoft Technical Briefing on 4th October in London)

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer V1.2.1 ready for Windows XP SP2

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer V1.2.1 ready for Windows XP SP2
