Actually, the one question anyone interested in browsers and standards have is: will there EVER be an Internet explorer version that isn't a pain in the ass to develop for? I'm so tired of all these ie.css and ie7.css I must keep with weird overrides.

Last night we fixed a problem where our inline-editor totally broke in IE. The solution was to set the width of an input field in a sidebar, totally isolated from the inline-editor, to 19px instead of 20px because the later 'caused the rendering engine to freak out and start showing hidden divs and stuff. Three developers was occupied for over an hour with this problem.

Yup. It's like trying to teach everyone in your organisation how to write great e-mails, or do pretty much any non-trivial task: it's not simple, and if you don't have smart people, it's going to be even tougher.

Hi Everyone, and thanks so much for your kind words of support. Yeah, I warned them at the mother ship that readers would not take kindly to the markup on this blog! Oh, I surely will earn my keep this year, I think.
