ASP.NET MVC 3 RC versions

I was not sure if what I had on my machine was RC or RC2. So here are the details of the two:

ASP.NET MVC 3 RC – Released on the 9th of November 2010, has the version number of 3.0.11029.0. Here’s the announcement from ‘The Gu’.

ASP.NET MVC 3 RC 2 – Released just about a month later (10th of December 2010), gets installed with the version number of . Here’s the announcement from ‘The Gu’. You can just download and install the RC2 bits directly. There’s no need to uninstall the previous RC version.

So there you go, RC is 11029 and RC2 is 11209 (I actually did get these number messed up!). The other difference is in the size of the installation that gets shown in the Add/Remove Programs window.

Admittedly, it's tricky because they're so similar, but the Version numbers ARE different.  RC = 11029, RC2 = 11209.  If you're dyslexic like me, you'll lose your mind looking at that. :)

Based on your screenshot, they do not have the same version number. RC 1 has a version of 3.0.11029.0 and RC 2 has 3.0.11209.0.

Actually, I too thought the version numbers were the same, however if you look extra closely...

ASP.NET MVC 3 RC has version number: 3.0.11029.0

ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 has version number: 3.0.11209.0

The difference being RC has a minor version of eleven thousand twenty-nine, and RC2 has a minor version of eleven thousand two hundred and nine.
