Unless I am very much mistaken, these two functions were added in v2.0.50727 as this (msdn2.microsoft.com/.../system.gc.addmemorypressure(VS.80).aspx) page says.

Excellent observation.  When I was contracted by Microsoft to produce that video topic, I never even questioned whether it existed in a prior version. It will be interesting to see what my Microsoft contact says regarding this.  Thanks!
