IronRuby is coming.

Expected to be released this year Microsoft's IronRuby is quite a unique project. Fully open sourced, GPL-based license, hosted at Rubyforge, accepting external contributions. Yes, Microsoft's IronRuby. Cool.

IronRuby version of the famous "Try Ruby in your browser" So anybody with 15 free minutes at hands could play with IronRuby. That sounds like cool way to learn IronRuby internals.

IronRuby includes ir.exe - nice interactive IronRuby shell. Thanks to open sources I managed to hack up simple AJAXish Web version in just one night. ASP.NET 3.5 application hosting IronRuby runtime + simple Web console emulating ir.exe.

It's hosted at http://www.ironruby.info/ir, currently at version "0.first.hack". Go play with it, but please don't crash it often.

Don't Panic. Asp.Net MVC is coming to VWD 2008 soon.

Hi,

I have seen some sad scenarios, while trying to create Asp.Net MVC with Visual Web Developer 2008.

Yes... Its true that currently you cannot run Asp.Net MVC within VWD 2008. But this situation is not on a permanent basis.

Here's a special response in forums answered by Mr. ScottGu against a question about VWD support.

Visual Web Developer 2008 Express doesn't currently support web application projects or class projects.

The default MVC project template uses web application projects to make them easier to unit test - and so doesn't currently work with VWD.

We are going to release an update to VWD in a few months that enables support for both WAP and Class Library projects inside VWD (while still being free). Once this update is out you'll have full integration support of ASP.NET MVC with Visual Web Developer.

I found this great new Free tool called "ASP.NET MVC Framework Scaffold Generator " and decided to share with all Asp.Net MVC die hard fans like me.

Its a Freeware tool that automatically creates CRUD ( Create, Read, Update, Delete ) pages for the new Asp.Net MVC Framework. A Right tool at the right time indeed.

Features:

Uses the LinqToSql data to generate source code.
Ruby on Rails like CRUD pages creator with a single button click.
Ruby on Rails like error reporting in the CRUD pages.

Hello,

Here's a Gmail class library that provides some tools for getting Gmail atom feeds and for sending emails through Gmail using the .Net framework.

These tools are not very complicated, but they are simple to use and should save a user some time if they want to integrate an application with Gmail.

You will also find here... couple of static methods that allow you to send a email through your Gmail account in as little as one line of code.

Hi,

I was frustrated with the current solutions of Managing Users and Roles on the remote server. I was not must pleased with the current solutions that were available.

Luckily i came across a very nice 3 part tutorial as well as a download solution on www.dotnetbips.com

Mr. Bipin Joshi from India, explains a total solution in his 3 part tutorial, with easy explanation and powerful features.
He is also an Author of a very good book, based on Asp.Net 3.5.

As you are aware, i am fascinated with Ironruby and get more excited day by day expecting IronRuby to touch the version 1.0 soon. Currently IronRuby is in pre-alpha stage and is making a very good progress.

I am touch with IronRuby from day one, and have been collecting all important IronRuby links to become an "IronRuby Guru" very soon ( Just Kidding )

OOPs!............ Here comes the end of Ruby.Net, a promised alternate for Ruby for .Net.

But the end comes for a good reason. It stops further progress as a support to IronRuby.

The developers do not want to reinvent the wheel again.

It is important to note that the developers have requested their community to support and make their code contribution to IronRuby, as they firmly believe that DLR and IronRuby are here to stay.

Hello,

Here's my First Blog and I would start it with DLR.

The Technical meaning for DLR stands as... " Dynamic Language Runtime " but for Fun I always call it it Dynamic Languages Reservoir, since its brings plethora of Languages under its roof. I am thankful to Microsoft for implementing such a brilliant idea to bring dynamic languages under DLR.

DLR offers me a great support for working with my language of choice, without leaving the .Net framework, plus a world of advantage with Base Class Libraries, and an opportunity to easily move between languages.

I am fascinated with the power of Ruby and its clear syntax, and I am happy that very soon i shall be working on asp.net with IronRuby. IronRuby is currently in alpha stage and its likely to come out with version 1.0 in second half of 2008.You can expect more news to flow during the Mix 2008 event starting from March 5th 2008.

I shall be blogging more about the DLR and its Dynamic language called IronRuby and try to keep you all updated.
