Every time I change my laptop, I had to remember all the steps that are required for configuring windows live writer. Given that live writer is not being maintained anymore, finding its genuine download link itself becomes a challenge. In thins blog post, I am going to bookmark for myself, what are all the steps required for configuring windows live writer for blogging.

Steps

• Download and install live writer from here : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials. Note that live writer is packaged along with other components and the package is termed as Windows Essentials.
• Once installed, on the very first start-up live writer will prompt you to provide details of your blog. See the following screenshots:

Select type of Blog Service : In case of asp.net weblogs, select Other services

Next, enter details of your blog e.g. blog URL, username and password

If everything entered is correct , then live writer will try to pull up blog specific settings

Finally, enter your blog name and you are ready to start blogging.
