I do have the same problem, but in an even simpler form. I don't have a workflow, I just have en event handler that can never get fired because of the anonymous user.

Have you found any kind of solution for this? I've been searching everywhere with no avail...

Thanx

I've got a question that I hope you might be able to shed some light on. I have a list with items that were created by an authenticated user. These items have SPD WFs that run on item creation and then wait until field X is populated. Anonymous users need to be able to populate field X, which should then satisfy the wait condition. I thought that SPD workflows ran under the context of the user who initiated the workflow, so why would an anonymous user receive the error "The data source control failed to execute the update command"?

This is very similar to what you described, as the anonymous user's updates are recorded, but the WF wait action is not satisfied, and therefore the workflow is useless.

You said you were going to give this a try, hopefull this report helps, please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!
