Still book writing....

Its 12.30am, family is asleep, its now December 31st, the last day of the year, and I am still slogging away writing a chapter on our "Beginning AJAX Programming in ASP.NET book". I need to get this chapter in soon and my eyes feel like they are bleeding.

I haven't been posting to this blog much at all, nor visiting mail lists, newsgroups and all the regular stuff I normally do.

Ah the glamour life of an author.

I hope everybody has a great start to the new year.

Or the life of a corporate software developer stuck with incompetent customers.

It's 1:50am, just got back from customer site. I decided heck with all the defects this card castle of a module (written by a "good old glory" C++ programmer) is spewing out like a machine gun. I want to remodel the engine in true object-oriented fashion. It's sad things done to _really_ improve things can only be done after dark.

Yep, book writing can be pretty tough. Till you write one, it's tough to understand what a hard job it actually is. Of course, when the book is eventually published, that feeling of utter joy makes up for all the effort :-)
