[dScribe] Work in progress

For those interested dScribe (Content Management System) is now very close to completion for a major release, the version 1.4.

The list of new features is quite long, but here we go with some major ones:

  • New navigation bar with drop down menus on top of the page to maximise the use of space on the page.
  • Image Gallery to upload guess what... your images. To give more flexibility in the deployment all the images are now stored in a database.
  • Lots of improvements in the user interface. Rather than having a long page with all the boxes visible, I have now developed an easy system of sub pagination.
  • Schedule integrated, so now you can write your content in advance and make it available at a chosen time for the Editor.
  • Basic setup to implement the database and the project. I have to work harder on this and I might have something better for the next version.
  • New Image type to include via the Template Editor.
  • I added also more preview buttons, so that you can now view the content before approving or deploying.

Four new projects use now dScribe, one being Saft Ireland (Safety Online site for the kids)

My goal is now to complete the delivery of this version on GotDotNet, and to start working this fall on the version 2.0 which I hope to be more XML centric.
