Google personalized search beta

Jason Mauss mention the new Google search service. Well as usual with this kind of thing, I am always suspicious regarding the privacy policy.

This tool look like a giant spyware, so I am not sure about the marketing and spam effects. This line  on their FAQ page should be reassuring:

I don't want anyone to know I'm into lemur racing. Is my information private?

Your Google Personalized web search profile is stored in a small file (known as a cookie) on your computer. The policies for Google Personalized web search, like those for Google.com, uphold the highest respect for our users' privacy. For more details, you can review Google's privacy policy.

Well this has to be seen, when you think about the Gmail experience where they started to think getting your private email content for marketing purpose.

I can't imagine the disaster if some bloke could find a way to read my cookies on my machine without my knowledge (well maybe it's already done)
