I really like BlogEngine.NET and use it on my site at blog.ourcurrentfuture.com

It's simple enough that I can quickly customize it and the team, headed by Mads is extremely responsive to comments and requests.

I've also used DasBlog, ThinkJot, and a couple others that never made it past my testing stage.

I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.

I tried it out and found the administrative features were a bit lacking. But I am a .NET developer and starting next month I will have more free time and plan on contributing some features in the areas I feel are lacking. This is not true for other projects like Community Server which is a heavy project that is hard to get into. I was able to dig around BlogEngine.NET within minutes and see where I could add some useful functionality. I currently run my blog with WordPress because it is so easy to maintain and it has great features, but since it is PHP I am not really about to contribute any code to the project. I am glad to see a solid blog application for .NET in addition to others. I have not used dasBlog so I cannot really compare. Perhaps someone could write up a review.

Well, I haven't used it yet and I'm sorta surprised no one else has chimed in. I'm currently looking for something to replace my simple Community Server site as Telligent's new licensing sceme for the "free version" makes CS pretty much useless for family/community/free sites. But like I said I haven't tested BlogEngine.NET yet, I'll get back to ya when I do! (Still need a good gallery and forums to completely replace CS.)

I have started to use it just in the last day or so. It is great - eay to set up, open source, free, easy to customize and modify. It minutes i had it configured and running on my SQL Server 2005 backend as well as using FCKEditor instead of Tiny MCE. It lacks the photo gallery and has no forums  - its just a blogging platform. For me i didnt need a photo gallery as i had already rolled my own. Overall i think its great.

Well your post prompted me to give this a shot, and I will say it is a pretty good 1.0 version blog.  Certainly enough on the right path, so it will be replacing my WordPress blog.  Also what I like about it is that I know C# and will easily be able to add to it.

I use BlogEngine.NET on my website: www.dennydotnet.com - been using it for a few months now. My only issue is the admin features but they do get the job done. Other than that it's a quick and easy setup.

Performance diminishes with the number of posts.  It needs database support.

Apparently they have database support.  Just a matter of them perfecting the XML to DB conversion script they have.

I'm eagerly waiting for that :-).  I found it interesting that they took the xml post right away, but that is a good thing for folks that don't really have access to MS SQL.

I use BlogEngine for my blog and am very satisfied. It is very easy to install and setup and now there's also an optional database back-end.

The feature I love is the support for Metablog API. It allows me to post directly from Windows Live writer, thanks to RazorAnt's work.
