Alternative browser for Windows Mobile 5
The Mozilla Foundation has released a new version of the Minimo browser for Pocket PCs running the Gecko rendering engine.
The Minimo browser is not a light version of Firefox, but a completely new browser based on the Mozilla codebase, much like Firefox was when it was started. -

Opera 8.5 PocketPC quick test
OK so I just downloaded Opera for Pocket PC and tested it (iMate JasJar Windows Mobile 5.0). Well I was expecting to be blown away with a real Internet Explorer challenger.

Opera Mobile 8.5 Beta for Pocket PC released
A 45-day trial beta is now officially available for downloading Opera 8.5. Unlike the version that leaked earlier, this beta includes binaries for Windows Mobile 5.0 as well as 2003. From the press release:
"Ever since we released Opera 8 for Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone in June 2005, people have been asking for Opera for their Pocket PCs," says Christen Krogh, VP Engineering, Opera Software. "We are very pleased to offer the latest version of Opera Mobile to Pocket PC owners, so they may finally have a proper Web experience on their devices."

An excellent PDF viewer for your PocketPC
To follow Roy Osherove on the search for an alternative to Acrobat Reader, PocketXpdf is a no-frills viewer for native PDF files for the Pocket PC platform. The rendering engine is a port of Xpdf.
