Scrollable Area : the Commercial component option

Make it Scroll has also a commercial component to create a scrollable datagrid. A thing I like there is that they can also freeze any number of columns. Cool ;-)

The negative aspevt is the price, not really cheap 99$, but they have a trial version.

Here is what you can do with the ScrollableGrid:

  • Vertical Scrolling : Long html tables are hard to read because the header scrolls with the page. MakeItScroll solves the problem enabling you to scroll the body of the table and leave the header in place.
  • Horizontal Scrolling: Tables that would not normally fit in a browser because of their width can now be incorporated in any webpage: MakeItScroll will scroll any extra content for you.
By the way: the header scroll horizontally too!
  • Scroll To Position on PostBack: After you click a button or fire some server events the grid will scroll itself to whatever row and column you were working on.
  • Freeze Columns: You can Dynamically Freeze any number of columns on the left side of the table;
  • Freeze Header: Header will always be visible maximizing usability.

    UPDATE:
Bettoni Software has also another incredible component, they call it the SuperGrid. Try it for yourself online. It's the first time I can see a grid where I can change dynamically the columns size by drag and drop. I wonder how they achieve this .

You can also drag and drop any column to change the column order. Amazing ! And of course the headers are freezed.

I don't know if it's done with a behavior, but I believe so.

Yes it's an htc behind and the cost is 149 $ but the Source is included

    • I'm not entirely sure what you're doing by posting lots of alternatives to Robert's new product but regardless of your views of what should and shouldn't be posted on here, you're coming across as a little petulant.

My take (and I could be wrong):

Robert has posted a solution to a problem.

You don't like it because you disagree with "advertising" on here.

You post lots of alternatives, all of which have problems which Robert's code doesn't have, or are commercial (not your own products but still...)

The main feed is now clogged with a load of scrolling DataGrid blogs.

      Why?

    • First of all it's my freedom to post anything I want. Well I think so.

And I also send before Robert posts some ideas about this subject.

I also don't like that Robert modify my comment (or delete it like he did two minutes ago). It's also his freedom of thoughts on his blog. But a bit of honesty will be better.

And I said in acomment he delete LOL, on his demo you can see clearly that the header colums are not aligned properly with the columns below. Dino in his article had the same problem. It seems to be something with the width calculations.

    • Thanks Joseph for the links

    • Sorry for the double up on the link to the scrolling data grid. I didn't realize you'd blogged about it earlier. Gotta get back to the "Pascal hates Robert/no he doesn't/advertising sucks" soap-opera.
