I don't think I have ever been into an airport that is so ridden with insects, rodents and filth in my entire life.
The place is a deathtrap - the "Executive Lounges" are nothing more than cafe's (bad ones) with the word "Café" taken off the sign and "Executive Lounge" added.
Yeeeuuggghhhh. The SAS Lounge is closed but I'm using their Wifi - I'm stuck here for FOUR HOURS. Wish me luck!
It's amazing, having spent so long in the UK and online, connecting to British, American and European resources online, I didn't realise the internet still had a thing called "LAG".
Whilst being here in Australia I've witnessed first hand what a difference geographical location can make to electronic communication. It's very clear that jobs I used to be able to do just fine (connect via a VPN to sites throughout Europe and work on remote machines) are nearly impossible from Australia even on local Broadband connections and leased lines.
On the plus side, it means I can't work on anything other than Australian contracts while I'm here, which does keep my clients happy ;-)
Phil.
P.S. Go Socceroos!
I am on a plane and I have Internet Access - I am a Geek and think this is SERIOUSLY cool.
YAY FOR TECHNOLOGY !!!
