Ibis Hotels - BAD Security

I stayed at the Reading Ibis some weeks ago and snapped this message from the TV.

Ibis Hotel Internet

The sheer incompetence of the last message on the screen horrified me, so I took this photo.

"For Windows 98 or NT users, simply select 'OK' for any screen you get when connecting"

What utter crap, "Are you sure you wish to format C:\?      OK             CANCEL"

Encouraging dialog blindness ;) nice...

It is something I have noticed (and like) about OS X though. Rarely (if ever) do you get an OK button in a well designed mac application. The convention is "[Action]" and "Cancel" instead of "OK"/"Cancel"

So you might get:

 "Delete"/"Cancel"

 "Format"/"Cancel"

It just stands a chance of standing out over a completely generic "OK".

Scary stuff but is just a sloppy quick answer to cover the majority of simple type questions that are likely to appear

still.....

The OS X thing is just convention - any program can be so coded surely

Unfortunately you have the wrong end of the stick here... ibis doesnt have bad security.

All the TV/HSIA services in this hotel are run NOT by Ibis/Accor hotels but by an external company called Quadriga and anyway if your still using 98 or NT then you should be considered a bit of a "nut job" anyway

my son stayed at one of their hotels and some one enterede his while he was asleep stealing his laptop money andhis watch which was still on his arm i know this is not the security that you mean but i would not stay at any of their hotels again

DURING MY STAY IN MARCH 11, 2008 IN HOTEL IBIS FRECHEN, GERMANY, SOMEONE ENTRE MY ROOM BY BREAKING THE DOOR LOCK AND TOOK MY MONEY WHILE I WAS IN THE BREAKFAST FOR HALF HOUR!!!??? THE MANAGER SAID THAT THIS HAPPEN TO THE SAME ROOM IN SUMMER 2007!!!!???? MY $5000 STOLEN AND THE HOTEL REFUSE TO PAY ME BACK??? I FILED A POLICE REPORT AND SOON I WILL TAKE IBIS HOTEL TO COURT.
