&lt;p&gt;And yes, I know these comments were based 4.5 years ago.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have created a file, a huge file, that allows me to do quick coding, but mostly in late binding. I can run a huge registration section in 16 lines of code and validation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However, option strict does not allow late binding, therefore my file fails.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Is there a way around it to allow option strict on EXCEPT for late binding? Thanks.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have a static member &amp;nbsp;m_event of type ManualResetEvent which is initialised to block.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;After One of the threads calls WaitOne(30000,false) &amp;nbsp;on m_event and right afterwards ( less than 30 seconds) other thread calls Set() &amp;nbsp;on same m_event and exits the first thread does not procced till 30 seconds have past.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I there some fundamental issue that I don't understand&lt;/p&gt;
