MVVM-Guru Brian Genisio is joining SRT in February! I first met Brian in-person at CodeMash last year. In fact, he was the one that convinced me to get on Twitter. Since then, I've been reading his blog and trying to catch his presentations at local user groups. He'll be giving his great MVVM talk at CodeMash in January.

Congratulations Brian. I'm looking forward to working with you!

SRT's Bill Wagner wins "Emerging Leader of the Year" Award from Automation Alley

Last night, SRT vice president and co-founder Bill Wagner received the "Emerging Leader of the Year Award" from Automation Alley. This annual event is Southeast Michigan’s most prestigious, competitive honors for technology organizations and their leaders. As an employee of SRT solutions, this comes as no surprise to me. Bill's continuous emphasis on new technologies is an everyday occurrence. Whether he's speaking at User Groups (or running them!), updating Effective C# for .NET 4.0 or working on tough technology problems with clients, Bill is always the go-to guy with the answers.

And this is not simply me doing a "suck up" post for my boss. It's a post about how lucky I am to work at SRT. To be able to bounce ideas off of Bill Wagner any time I want is awesome! It's about being a part of the company he and Dianne Marsh created. The company that convinced Chris Marinos to come work with us instead some other large, Redmond-based software company and give him the opportunity to create Elevate – a .NET version of the popular Boost library for C++. These things, along with all of the other great talent at SRT, make it a great place to work!

Thanks to Bill and Dianne for giving me the opportunity to work at SRT and congratulations to Bill on the award. Well deserved!!
<div class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:648f5c1f-fba5-4e7a-9198-89f8bb518b40" style="padding-right: 0px; display: inline; We (SRT) are going to be hosting a Software Stimulus Lab at Automation Alley next Monday, June 15th. We've got a press release that covers the details better than I can but the important things are:

Seats are limited! Register now – it's only $75.

This is a hands-on workshop. Bring your problems and we'll help you solve them in addition to teaching you how to solve them in the future.

This is not about .NET. Sure, we've got a great collection of C#, WPF and Silverlight folks, but we've also got some really talented Java, Scala and Python gurus. And the tools aren't everything – learn techniques and methodologies to help drive your solutions to completion.

So check out the press release for all of the details and register here.
<div class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:afe31034-d9f3-4cf7-800b-ac173e83a5c2" style="padding-right: 0px; Twitter), there's a new look to the CodeMash website. SRT Solutions and inner circle media have been working on the website for a while now getting things organized. Much of the praise for the new look goes to inner circle media – Catherine Hayes and Alaine Karoleff have put a lot of thought and design into the new site and it shows!

As Brian pointed out in his tweet, this is just the beginning – there's more to come as CodeMash get closer and closer. And check out the news – CodeMash 2011 already has a date! Start your planning now! I'm thinking that an 18-month notice is more than enough time for your employer to give you the time off.
