I use windows 2003 on my laptop for development (ease) reasons. I wanted to use the Live writer to create posts on this blog but I realized that newly released Windows Live Writer 2008 is (and older Betas as well) available to install only on XP and Vista (as per this). What the heck am I going to do?

Anyway, I found the installer that works on Windows 2003.

Download it here.

Double click on it and it's done in a few seconds. Keep in mind you won't get any notification or dialog saying the installer is done installing, just go to Start --> Programs --> Windows Live.

  The same problem exists now for Windows Live Messenger (ex-MSN Messenger). For that one, you can download an older version (www.oldversion.com) that support 2003, and then on first run it will update you to the current version. Works great!
