Windows Live Writer 2008 On Corporate Machine

Windows Live Writer 2008 installation on Windows XP & Vista (for Windows 2003, take a look here):

You may NOT be able to install the Windows Live Writer 2008  if you try to run the install on the corporate network because it's going through the proxy and some of the downloads (like any .exe extension) are blocked.

Not to worry! :) In this case, follow these steps to install the Live Writer 2008:

  • Download this. If you can't download this then you can't follow the next steps and you are stuck. Best bet would be, go to non-corporate environment, get the file on your USB drive.
  • Place the above downloaded file in some folder (e.g. C:\live\)
  • Create a blank Text file called config.txt in the same folder above.
  • Type the following and Save the file:

p=5DC07600-AAF3-11DA-A746-0800200C9A66&s=0&h=0&c=1&m=EN-US&t=0

  • Go to command prompt and change directory (CD..) to the folder above.
  • Type on command prompt: WLSetup.exe /FASTOEM /configfile: config.txt

Hope this helps!
