Community Server Cuts Personal And Small Business Licenses

Yesterday Telligent, in an interesting turn of events if you ask me, announced that Personal and Small Business licenses for Community Server are no longer available. Yes, you read it right - not will not be available, but as of November 2nd, when it was posted, are no longer available.

More from me soon, I promise. Life was a bit on the wild side lately.

They are increasing the capacity and capability of the free Express Edition thought, aren't they?

They've also got Grafitti lined up for the personal and small business user though I really think they should have waited until Grafitti was RTM to cut the Personal and Business Edition.

Relevant quotations from the Telligent blog:

"The free Express Edition's limits will be increased to 15 Blogs and 250 files in the File Galleries."

"Graffiti is going to be a much better fit for what was the Personal and Small Business uses of Community Server. Specifically it will have awesome support for single-user blogs and a very light-weight forums."

Obviously those customers were costing Telligent more money than they were making off of the licenses, any business would have made a similar move. The good news is that they aren't being left in the lurch as they have A) CS Hosted Version they can go with, and B) a better solution once Graffiti is released.

The express edition is still free, and supports a high enough # of blogs/forums that should still satisfy a lot of folks as well.
