XBOX2 should ship with X10 integration...

Wouldn't it be cool to have your new home theatre system, Xbox2, also be able to do some low-level home automation?

Scheduled light control for holidays, scheduled fish feeding, auto-dim the lights when your movie comes on, turn the heat down at night and back up and hour before you wake, turn the coffee pot on for you, close the drapes.  You get the idea.

It could be as simple as an Add-On pack.  Heck if they gave us a true serial port out the back (or even a USB Controller port with a bridge to serial) they could just allow the community to start plugging in their own devices.  Oh of course, the whole signed code thing.  You simply cant run non-signed code on the device.  Well then have something that allows us to pump out the X10 signals out.  MSFT, its super easy, we even have it ported to .NET.

With that said, I have seen a modded-Xbox control the lights in a home via a Python script.

A interesting idea .

A pretty interesting concept. As the XBOX is basically a PC, it should be very possible to do that. Would be some kind of space-saver, wouldn't it?
