Linux, Mono, Hello World...

Last night I decided to play on the other side of the fence.  I downloaded Puppy (just a small variant of linux) and installed it on a 128MB pen drive. I boot from the pen drive itself.  I didnt want to mess with any other HDD's and crap and since I wanted to carry the OS around with me it was just easier.

So, next I grabbed the Linux Installer for x86 (All distributions) of Mono installed it on the pen drive and compiled and ran my first "Hello World" application.

Amazingly easy.

if your machine wont boot from USB key, you can also try out Monoppix (http://www.monoppix.com/) which boots from CD.
